NaNoWriMo
Unsolicited trackback time: The Stalker has brought to my attention NaNoWriMo. Go and read, because I wouldn't do them justice with a sentence or two of description (even with the extent to which I write unnecessarily long over-punctuated sentences).
Basically the National Novel Writing Month (which would be International, but it didn't have the same ring to it) is all about writing a novel in a month. I'm tempted to take part.
They're not a charity, but they do raise quite a lot of money for good causes each year - last year it was libraries for children in Cambodia, this year it will be Loasian libraries - but frankly, encouraging people to write is a good cause in itself, so anyone who wants to back me on this is encouraged to contribute something.
So, back to me being tempted to take part. I'm unlikely to bother if I'm the only one who thinks it's a good idea, so you lot (both of you) can be encouraging. In fact, since in trying to make you finish a 50k word novella in one month NaNoWriMo expect it to be a little cheap-and-nasty, I'm even open to suggestions as to what should go in it. Suggest something a little odd, and while I reserve the right to ignore things that are completely unfeasible (I'll endeavour only to do so if there are contradictory suggestions, but I may have to draw lines somewhere...), and I'll try and come up with a work that satisfies everyone's suggestions.
So comment, one and all. If I get enough to make it feel like it's worth it, I will spend much of my spare time in November writing you a bad novel[la], then publish it here.
