Something Gordon said just made me consider that maybe a 'blog post is in order due to newsworthy events on my doorstep (not literally, but give or take a quarter mile, maybe).

Probably it isn't, so I'll keep it short:
Heartfelt sympathies to all those who have lost loved ones, and here's hoping it's stopped soon.

Somehow this shit seemed slightly less insane when it was gang- and drug-related shooting on my road in Brixton.
