Find the Wikipedia entry for your birthday (as day of year rather than in specific year). Pick a couple of the worthwhile events, and also a birth or two (original instruction was to pick a death, but most people I've seen have wanted a more up-beat approach).

26th January
1785 - Benjamin Franklin writes a letter to his daughter expressing disappointment over the selection of the eagle as the symbol of the United States; he wanted the turkey.
1992 - Boris Yeltsin announces that Russia is going to stop targeting United States cities with nuclear weapons.
1998 - Lewinsky scandal: On American television, Bill Clinton denies he had "sexual relations" with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

It's not a case of 'allowing' HTML in comments; I'd need to write the routine to find tags and decide which to keep in. Which means reading up on the API to get the right hooks, and so on.
I'll see what I can do.
