Here's a blast from the past: the kind of meme we had before blogging hit the big time, when they were just junk e-mail. So, I've dutifully forwarded it but removed all the '>', and will proceed to replace Gordon's answers with my own.

What time did you get up this morning?
8:30. Which wasn't so good seeing as I was meant to be in the office at 9:00.

Diamonds or pearls?
Diamonds.

What was the last film you saw at the cinema?
Hostel. Which is one to avoid, if you hadn't already realised.

What is your favourite TV show?
The West Wing. Runners up include Yes, Minister (& Prime Minister), Babylon 5, Fawlty Towers and various others.

What do you usually have for breakfast?
Whatever I can grab on my way out to eat when I get to work. Which is often nothing.

Favourite cuisine?
Italian.

What food do you dislike?
Most nuts (although those I do eat I will eat loads of). Also the odd vegetable, although there are a number of things I remember having hated when I was young that I find I now quite like after years of avoiding them.

What is your favourite CD at the moment?
Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth Radiohead - The Bends Lacuna Coil - In a Reverie.
Final answer. Honestly.

Morning or night person?
Night.

Favourite sandwich?
It's been a while, but as a decadent citizen of London I used to love Pret a Manger's chicken Caesar. The chicken club was always spot on too.

What characteristic do you despise?
Stupidity. I hate it when I do stupid things (which is really quite often), and the same goes for everyone else.

Favourite item of clothing?
I don't like my clothes, especially since I got fat and needed new ones. Although there's a shirt or two I kind of like, I certainly don't have any favourite items.

If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would it be?
Hmm... Holiday is something else I tend not to get around to.
Somewhere quiet. Maybe by the sea. Not too hot. I'm thinking that I might try and fit the Lake District into this year or next.

What colour is your bathroom?
Some manner of off-white. I try not to spend too much time in there; the ceiling slopes so that I can't stand up at one end of the room.

Favourite brand of clothing?
Go and review my previous comments about clothes. Do you really think I know brands of clothing, let alone like them?

Where would you retire to?
The answer to the holiday question fits in here, too (although I'm not going to try and retire this year or next). Once I've honed all my remote-working skillz (as a novellist, programmer, or any of the other things that I do but not well enough to make a living) I may make a move there before I retire.

What was your most memorable birthday?
The last one. I don't normally do anything interesting for birthdays, so when I put word out that we were out drinking for my 25th I wasn't expecting anything much of interest to happen. The turnout made me look about and think, 'Damn, maybe I do have a decent set of friends in this town...'

Favourite sport to watch?
When I do watch sport, which is very rare, I'll watch anything I know the basic rules of. I have been a bit of a fan of the Touring Cars, and other events with fairly 'normal' vehicles that are a bit more sensible and robust than those F1 things.

Who do you least expect to complete this?
We might have trouble getting Adrian to do it.

Person you expect to complete it first?
I think Annie or Matt would be most likely to take it from here if they don't already have it from Gordon. Maybe Dan will pip them to it though.

Person who is least busy?
I wouldn't want to speculate. Except that clearly this has been a slow lunch for me...

When is your birthday?
January 26th

What is your shoe size?
10.

Pets?
None.

Any new and exciting news you’d like to share with us?
No. Wait until it's old and dull news, like everyone else.

What did you want to be when you were little?
All kinds of things. In fact, I still want to be a mathematician and a novellist and a software architect and a few things even less likely.
But I certainly never wanted to drive a train, nor play football for a living.

What is your favourite flower?
Very low maintenance ones (or those that someone else is responsible for). I know nothing about plants, and see no need to start now.

What date on the calendar are you looking forward to?
Let's see... I think it's the 12th of May that should be good. Or the 2nd of July.

One word to describe the person who you snaffled this from?
Indescribable. Certainly in one word; have you seen how many words I take to say anything else?
Consistent?
