This is post 500. That's not 500 real posts, since the index covers all of the little pseudo-blogs that I've hacked up over the years for template tricks (my random-sorted blogroll and linkroll, the now-retired random subtitle and the 'moblog', etc.), but it's a bigger milestone than I'm likely to notice otherwise.

Thanks for reading.

Adverts for Nintendo Wii games always end with the same phrase.

Only Ennui

Is that just me?

I had a lot of respect for CCP, the Icelandic company that runs EVE Online. I have more now, having read their developer 'blog on their operation Unholy Rage.

Seriously, these guys really care about their game and aren't afraid to crack some heads (not that the devs at [insert other MMO] don't care and won't crack heads, but anyway).

Although they didn't half have a chunk of downtime for the patch today...

On the XBox 360 I have Bejewelled 2. I'm partial to PopCap games and their ilk, so I unlocked the full and unfettered version, which is surprisingly satisfying in HD on a big widescreen TV.

In the timed 'action' mode, the achievement is to complete level 8. I can get to level 8, sometimes, but never have I completed it. My high score in that mode puts me within the top 1,200 in the world; granted the level progress doesn't correlate exactly to score, but it's a safe bet that most of the people below me can't get to a higher level. Which means that only a tiny proportion of those who have the game have that achievement.

And still I want it, even if it is only 10 points.

So, in WoW, right, there are these 'party' things, right, and like, if people go by and you tell them to invite you then you'll join their party and they'll help you with stuff, right.

Not exactly.

...more that most of it either isn't worth saying, or isn't safe to.

I should be less fussy about what's worth saying. Not like anyone reads it anyway.

Recent rants thoughts that might have become posts:
