This may be old news to you, but xkcd just alerted me to the fact that stuck pixels in an LCD display can be woken up by putting a little pressure on the screen. My work monitor is complete again!

I just saw an advert for one of those suspicious part-work things, whereby you can gradually build a collection of some kind of tat, with a special introductory price on the first issue and a hideous mark-up on all the others. Except that this one builds an orrery, and I want one.
I'm not going to buy the part-work. I might keep an eye out for an orrery to buy outright (there are probably build instruction out there somewhere, but while I could probably assemble one I wouldn't have the skill to build one from scratch).

Gary Gygax died. He hadn't been well. Some people I know are planning a minute's silence at their gaming sessions for the 'father of roleplaying games'. I didn't really know how to explain why I didn't share that sentiment until I found the latest post from Scott R. Kurtz of PvPonline.

Since I have a car stereo with no line in but with a big rectangular hole for one of those little music devices that sounds like a hamster wheel, it was easy to find an adaptor to plug my MP3 player into my car stereo.
