In preparation for NaNoWriMo I've knocked together a small CMS for serialising fiction. It's firmly in beta (at that stage where basic functionality is there but some of the bells and whistles aren't yet), so if anyone gets the chance to thrash it I'd appreciate some feedback.

RSS feeds aren't ready yet (they're the next thing). It doesn't accept comments, but I don't know if it ever will: I'd rather leave the text alone and those few people (if any) who really want to comment can do so against a post here. The admin interface is a little shabby, but while it's only me contributing that's no odds.

Plus, of course, since it's there as a place for my NaNoWriMo attempt, there's only a set of test entries there at the moment, which will disappear when there's real content there.

I have been churning out an informal story on one of the forums to which I belong, but I'm not entirely sure it'll come here. RSS would be nice, but at the moment it's quite comfortable claiming to be a 'bit of fun' to fill out the fiction board on that forum whereas if I bring it over here it'll be that bit more pretentious.

Update: The basics of navigation are in and feeds work (although I might give them more friendly URLs later). Giving a chapter number that's out of range returns 500 rather than 404 but that should be a quick enough fix when I can be bothered.

Now all I need is for November to start.

Another Update: I forgot to put in the ability to 'hide' draft posts. That now works in all places except when calculating stats.

This network card which Dabs specifically marks as 'Realtek', actually has as much to do with Realtek as Bombay duck has to do with duck. Which sucks, because the real RTL-8139 is one of the most common LAN chipsets around and has excellent Linux compatibility, while this Silan junk has about as much Linux compatibility as our admin department*.

* I haven't actually measured the Linux compatibility of the admin department. But given the workarounds required to get them to work on Windows with any effectiveness, I'm assuming that Linux drivers are not available.

Paul McCartney is on television but I have headphones on and piping Mark Ronson into my ears. It worries me a little that I can recognise Eleanor Rigby just by watching the string section.

I've noticed two notable things happening to the music on the radio these days.

Apologies for the terrible choice of pinks for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The one that works in the header doesn't work in the text, so currently I have two that clash, and it's awful.

At some point I may give up on 'web colours' and just start interpolating.
