Although quite short this post is so incredibly geek-fu that... Well, you were warned.
Tomorrow is the third anniversary of my joining this employer. I have about as much idea what I'm doing now as I did then (perhaps a longer list of things I know I don't want to do).
The Sainsbury's Energy salesman doesn't think me worthy of stopping as I wander past him in front of the cheese, nor any of the other times I was near him. A person in a huge fluorescent jacket (and hence of some authority, surely?) doesn't think me worthy of a leaflet on personal safety.
I can't decide whether I'm offended.
(Anyone who wants to look official in the street should get a huge fluorescent jacket. They seem to work wonders.)
My Christmas shopping seems to acquire as much stuff for me as it does for family and friends. It's mainly because it's the only time of year I get around to looking in my favourite discount bookshop.

My car passed its MOT without needing any work, although on the advice of the tester they're changing one of the tyres. It wants replacing because it's perishing, rather than because the tread is low. I wonder how long it was sitting around before it was sold to me...
Matt's little rolling delicious link thing (I would get me one of those, but I don't really go anywhere interesting except via other people) has a link to the Map of the Internet at xkcd. I'm pretty sure I've been there before (the tag line seems familiar), but this time I took the time to look around, and I'll doubtless be laughing for some time.
Whether my colleagues understand why or not.
If you want to glimpse the inner me, I have to warn that it may be easier if you're the sort of person who gets this, this, maybe this and definitely this. (Probably needn't find them funny, although I did, to differing degrees).

Something Gordon said just made me consider that maybe a 'blog post is in order due to newsworthy events on my doorstep (not literally, but give or take a quarter mile, maybe).
Probably it isn't, so I'll keep it short:
Heartfelt sympathies to all those who have lost loved ones, and here's hoping it's stopped soon.
Somehow this shit seemed slightly less insane when it was gang- and drug-related shooting on my road in Brixton.

I'm the only one in the office. Although able to do all the necessary jobs, in theory, I've forgotten a couple of useful passwords and things, because I don't normally use them. I've got no idea what my colleagues were working on, and it's not always easy to work it out from their notes.
Besides, there's no way I would ever apply for any job here but mine, and there's good reason for that.
Oh well, only 6 hours to go.

Woohoo. New World of Warcraft patch gone live. So most of the servers were down until early evening because the scheduled maintenance on a patch day always takes longer than scheduled, and all of them were down again in the late evening after the publishers realised that their new software wasn't stable.
I cannot give you a lock unless you will take my word that I will not keep a key.
