I've got that annoying Pussycat Dolls song stuck in my head. It might be called 'Beep' or something. It doesn't even seem worth a trip to Google to find out (and we all know how much effort a trip to Google is).

Strange thing is, my twisted and unconventional mind keeps trying to put 'eyes' behind some of the beeps. I don't think that was the intention.

I've been following a debate on Adrian's website, in the comments for this post and then the whole of this post. The argument is about the pressure society and the media exert on women to conform to an unreasonable image of 'perfection'; I haven't commented on either of the threads there - I don't really have anything to add over what's already been said - so I thought I'd bring it back here for a little summation and some slightly related comments.

I've sort of stopped reviewing films. Seen a few lately that I couldn't bring myself to talk about (even if they deserved it: The Producers and The Godfather, among others), and I've known for some time that with so many opinions available my bland and indifferentiating enthusiasm hasn't really been of much use to anyone.

So now I'm going to mention only those things I really want to tell you all to see. Starting with what I consider to be the best political drama ever to come out of the UK, with a pretty good shot at best political drama ever (and that's coming from a huge fan of the West Wing).

Depending on how much you trust my judgement, you can either accept my hearty recommendation here, or go on to see why. Spoilers have been kept to a minimum, but probably still exist.

Feeling sorry for myself at the moment. I won't bother you people with it. I'll tell you about my friend's exciting project soon.
It works! I think. Sort of.

And in honour of Matt I'm going to 'fess up and put the posts most of you don't actually want to read in a new 'geek-fu' category ;-)

This may surprise those of you who knew me there (since I should have done so long ago), but I finally today cancelled both SWG accounts. I haven't even felt any desire to play WoW in about two weeks, so the trepidation I had felt about writing off the characters I had put so much work into in the Star Wars game didn't seem nearly so much today when I clicked those fateful little boxes to stop the payments.

Had I realised that they guarantee not to delete them for three months after I cancel, I would have done so straight away...

Now I have to decide whether to bother with WoW. With the money I saved getting rid of SWG I'm considering upgrading the support deal on this web hosting, so that I can be more secure in all the hosting I'm now doing for other people; any more cancellations for things I'm not really using are pure GP, as it were.

I've been doing a little work on something for one of my friends, as I hinted at previously. I'd rather not tell you what it is - far more appropriate for you to hear it from him - but unfortunately since he suggested it to us there's been such a good response that I fear he's a bit shell-shocked by it all and doesn't know which bit to do next...

It's good fun, and I hope to take you there soon.

A friend of mine elsewhere has a very interesting and promising project in mind. I'll see if he's got space for me on it, and tell you more (or just point you there) later.
Fingers crossed; I think I trust my mail server again. If you know me, expect random mails from some of my addresses while I check that my SMTP server isn't blocking any domains.

Next step, IMAP and webmail...
